The Holidays are upon us
I will be taking a break for the remainder of the year. I will still be sparingly on Facebook and Twitter during this time.
Positive Living with MS was started by Penelope Conway after she was diagnosed with MS. She found few resources for positive encouragement; to laugh, cry, share, and just feel normal in the midst of a life of chaos; so she decided to start something herself. Positive Living with MS was birthed out of Penelope’s desire to show others that regardless of the challenges, we can all enjoy life to the fullest and find a smile in the storm.

When you find yourself sitting in a puddle of your thoughts wondering where everyone has gone, know that there are others with MS who understand. We are in this together. I want to see you be brave with everything you go through. You can do this.
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.
When you look around all you see is pain and hard times. You can’t see anything worthy of thanks. Tears happen way more often than smiles. I get it. I understand how overwhelming and difficult it is to live a life of constant change and uncertainty.
A person’s life can become completely destroyed when MS shows up. It has this way of flipping our world on its head, spinning us around and around creating dizzying chaos and confusion, and then leaving us to figure things out… many times all on our own.
Yes, there is humor in there somewhere. You just gotta laugh at MS or you will go crazy.
When we meet others with multiple sclerosis we discover we have a common animosity. I went to a meeting with other MSers after I was diagnosis with MS and I felt like I was at an AA meeting… Hi, I’m Penelope and I have MS.
I used to say my bladder was conspiring against me because as soon as I would get home from work and opened the front door, my bladder would let loose and I would have a puddle in my entryway to clean up along with myself.
Dear MS,
I think we need to become better strangers. If I have to get a restraining order, I will.
What do you do when your neurologist suggests that you move to an assisted living facility because you’re safety is more important at this stage with your multiple sclerosis progression? You don’t want to wind up in the hospital with a broken hip all because you fell and no one was around to help since you live alone.
